Waterpark Evacuated Amid Reports of Chemical Leak Affecting 15

A chemical leak at a leisure centre in Derbyshire has prompted the evacuation of the premises and left 12 people experiencing breathing difficulties.

The incident occurred at Moorways Sports Village and Water Park, where authorities were called to investigate a potential chemical leak. Emergency services, including firefighters, police, and ambulance crews, are currently on the scene.

Firefighters from various stations, as well as a specialist Environmental Protection Unit, are working to contain the situation. The leisure centre's swimming lessons and water park visits have been cancelled for the day, and a statement has been issued by the owners apologising for any inconvenience caused.

Emergency services are at the scene of a "potential chemical leak" at a leisure centre and water park in Derby, which has been evacuated. Firefighters were called to Moorways Sports Village, in Moor Lane, Allenton, at 1.38pm on Thursday, July 30.

Residents in the area are being advised to avoid Osmaston Park Road, which is currently closed to the junction with Moor Lane. The incident is ongoing, and officials will provide a further update at a later time.

Paramedics are on site treating 12 people who are experiencing breathing difficulties. The leisure centre's changing rooms were also evacuated due to concerns over the health and safety of visitors.
