Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer faced disruption during a speech on Thursday at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, as he unveiled a major anti-corruption proposal.
Schumer criticized former President Donald Trump, accusing him of transforming the presidency into “the single most profitable scam of his,” before being interrupted by a protester.
The man shouted, “Please sit down. Please sit down,” before launching into a critique of Schumer’s “diabolical record” and accusing him of complicity in genocide.
Schumer attempted to regain control, saying, “Thank you for your diatribe. Now let’s continue. Let’s continue and let—the people didn’t come to hear you.”
Undeterred, the protester demanded accountability, stating, “You should be questioned about your diabolical record. It’s amazing that you can show your genocidal face in public.”
As staff moved the protester out, he shouted, “Shame on public citizens for not allowing questions to this genocidal maniac. Shame! Corruption! What could be more corrupt than not allowing questions?”
Despite the interruption, Schumer proceeded to highlight his plan to establish a new anti-corruption agency, calling it “the biggest, boldest and broadest proposal ever put forward to revitalize our anti-corruption institutions.”
