Arsenal Defender Embarks on Trial at Crystal Palace

Takehiro Tomiyasu, the former Arsenal defender, has been training with Crystal Palace and is being considered for a permanent transfer.

The Japanese international was named on the bench for Palace’s recent friendly against Lens, indicating his integration into the squad.

Club officials have reached a broad agreement on terms, pending a final decision from head coach Pierre Sage, who is planning to employ a back‑three defensive formation.

Sage views Tomiyasu as a potential left‑handed centre‑back in the three‑man line, adding versatility to the defensive unit.

Crystal Palace has also submitted a €30 million bid for Augsburg defender Chrislain Matsima and is exploring a loan deal for Chelsea youngster Josh Acheampong to bolster defensive depth.

Additional interest has been reported in Brest centre‑back Raphael le Guen, though no concrete offers have been made.

The club’s activity follows an unresolved transfer involving Maxence Lacroix, prompting Palace to seek immediate replacements to strengthen its back line.
