Boy George has withdrawn from the West End staging of Jesus Christ Superstar, where he was slated to portray King Herod from August 3 to August 15.
His manager announced that the decision was made out of respect for the producers, creative team, and the entire company, and expressed gratitude for their professionalism.

In a brief statement on social media, George acknowledged the backlash, writing that “it doesn’t matter what I think or what you think,” and expressed frustration over the reaction.
The track contains lyrics that frame the conflict as a conventional war rather than genocide, and directly challenges those who label the Israeli actions as such.
It also targets musicians and activists who advocate for Palestinian rights, accusing them of selective condemnation and propagandist behavior.
Recent estimates place the death toll from the ongoing hostilities at more than 73,000, including over 21,000 children, with the violence tracing back to a Hamas‑led attack that killed roughly 1,200 Israelis and led to widespread military retaliation.
