A chilling scene unfolded within the walls of a Detroit high school classroom, captured on a now-circulating video. A student, identified by her blue beanie and headphones, initiated a frantic chase after a classmate, allegedly armed with a box cutter.
The video reveals a tense confrontation beginning with a pointed finger and escalating quickly. As the masked student approached, the other recoiled, then bolted, a chaotic path carved through the classroom as desks were overturned in the desperate flight.
The pursuit didn’t end within the classroom. The fleeing student burst through the doorway, only to be met by a teacher bravely attempting to block her escape with a chair. In the struggle, a glint of metal – appearing to be the box cutter – tumbled to the floor.
Undeterred, the student snatched up the object and continued her run, disappearing into the hallway as shocked classmates questioned, “Is that a pocketknife?” Faculty members immediately gave chase, their concern palpable.
School officials confirmed the disturbing incident, stating a student had brought a box cutter onto campus with the intent to harm another. Fortunately, despite the terrifying ordeal, no injuries were reported.
The student involved has been arrested and barred from returning to Denby High School, or any other school within the district. Authorities have pledged an increased police presence at the school in the wake of the event.
A full investigation by the Detroit Police Department is currently underway, seeking to understand the root cause of this frightening confrontation and ensure the safety of all students.
